Summary

Sandy (LaFreniere) LoDico, born circa 1949, was the daughter of Daniel Archie “Archie” and Frances LaFreniere of Beaver Island (see Archie Lafreniere and Frances Bernell Connaghan LaFreniere). She turned thirteen during the Beaver Island youth clubs’ January 26, 1962 sleigh ride, reported in the February Beaver Beacon. By 1976, Beacon usage records her married and living in St. Johns, Michigan, as Mrs. Peter LoDico, with “Sandy LaFreniere” given parenthetically as her maiden name in the May–June 1976 birth notice for her daughter, Kristen Danielle — the notice that also names her parents as the child’s grandparents.

Evidence and limits

Identity bridge for the merge. No source gives a full civil birth date; the circa-1949 estimate comes only from the reported age at the 1962 sleigh ride, corroborated by her appearance on the Grade 6 honor roll in December 1960. The February 1962 issue identifies her as the daughter of Archie and Frances LaFreniere in the same item that names her brother Alvin, which distinguishes this Sandy from the cemetery’s unrelated Sandra K. (Dudzik) LaFreniere. The May–June 1976 birth notice names “Mr. and Mrs. Peter LoDico (Sandy LaFreniere) of St. Johns, Michigan” as parents of Kristen Danielle LoDico and, in the same sentence, “Mr. and Mrs. Archie LaFreniere” as the newborn’s grandparents — the identical parents named in the 1962 sleigh-ride notice. That matching set of grandparents, not the name alone, is the bridge merging the maiden-name record (person/sandy-lafreniere-1962) with the married-name record (person/sandy-lafreniere-lodico-1976); no source gives a marriage date or record.

  1. Identifies Sandy LaFreniere as thirteen during the January 26 sleigh ride, and separately, in the same issue's "Back to School" item on her brother Alvin, as the daughter of Archie and Frances LaFreniere. The approximate birth year is calculated only from the reported age and is not a civil birth date. This parentage distinguishes her from the cemetery's Sandra K. (Dudzik) LaFreniere, who has different parents.
