Summary

Roosevelt School was a former school building near the south end of King’s Highway. A 1963 local-history account says materials were hauled from the mainland across Lake Michigan ice in February 1933 and that the school was completed in early spring. A 1972 obituary places the earlier, burned “Little Red School” at approximately the same site, at the corner of King’s Highway and McCauley Road.

Both accounts are retrospective. They support the school identity and a 1933 tradition, but do not replace school-board minutes, a deed, construction records, or evidence for the earlier school’s exact date and footprint. The 1978 Historical Map prints 1934; the earlier held account conflicts with that year, so this article uses 1933 and records the disagreement.
