Summary

The 2004 Baroque on Beaver was announced for Sunday, 25 July at Holy Cross Parish Hall as the third consecutive year of the St. James Episcopal Mission’s classical-music program. The proposed program comprised two performances by a small chamber orchestra and choral ensemble of residents and guests, including an afternoon program for Island School students and children of seasonal residents.1

Program and support

The announcement lists works by Bach, Purcell, Holst, Handel, and Ralph Vaughan Williams, with fifteen instrumentalists and twenty-five choir members. It says Jason Economides and Patty Baser would return as co-directors; Charles Krutz and Brenda LeFevre as instrumental and vocal soloists; and Kathy Speck as director of the children’s and adult choruses. It also reports partial funding from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs and Cheboygan Area Arts Council. These are scheduled roles and funding claims, not a substitute for a completed program or grant record.1

Open questions

  • Did the two performances occur as announced, and does a final program survive?
  • What were the exact grant awards and conditions?
