Summary

In 1976 St. James and Peaine Townships financed a planned Beaver Island airport improvement project with a reported $27,000 bond sale, a prior $25,000 Michigan Aeronautics Commission loan, and $80,000 in matching funds. The proposed work included a 3,000-foot paved east-west runway, apron, taxiway, and related facilities. On August 10, the Beaver Beacon reported limestone delivered for the runway and road improvements, but not completed construction.
