Summary
After the Bradley sinking, the December 1958 Beaver Beacon reports that the Beaver Island Civic Association began a relief fund that grew from $25 to nearly $100. It also reports a Thanksgiving Mass for the dead and bereaved, Dr. Luton’s Coast Guard helicopter flight toward a freighter carrying a rescued seaman who died before transfer, and Don Hansen’s roughly seven-hour air search for bodies. The account describes radio and telephone relays through Musette LaFreniere and the local Coast Guard station.
