Fire Department members, EMS, the Boat Company ground crew, aircraft, and local boats assembled; the ferry returned safely; passengers, vehicles, and freight were transferred to the Beaver Islander; and mechanics began repairs the next day. July 17–18 forum notices said the Coast Guard had cleared the Emerald Isle and that it would return to its normal service on Thursday, July 18.
