The Beaver Beacon’s June 1977 issue announces a five-day Fourth of July program running June 30 through July 4, mixing Beaver Island Civic Association, parish, and Christian Church events: Bingo, a freewill-offering pancake supper, a Civic Association auction, a barbecue whitefish dinner, a July 4 pancake brunch, a carnival, a Basket of Joy raffle drawing, and an evening fireworks display. A separately printed item in the same issue adds the Shamrock Open mixed golf tournament on July 3 at the Beaver Island Golf Course.

Evidence limits
This article rests on a single forward-looking newspaper announcement. No
post-event report naming attendance, proceeds, prize winners, or volunteers
was found in the held July, August, or September 1977 Beaver Beacon issues.
The carnival’s own site (“next to the Castaway’s”) and the golf course are
not resolved to an existing place or structure article here; only Holy Cross
Parish Hall, named for three of the five days’ events, is used as
took_place_at.
Open questions
- Did the announced program run as scheduled, and would a later 1977 issue not yet checked for this term report an outcome?
- Who chaired the Civic Association’s auction and carnival that year?
