In its December 1973 holiday issue, the Beaver Beacon printed greetings from LaFriere’s Store and Beachcomber Tavern saying that each business was making a donation to the Beaver Island Medical Center Building Fund instead of sending Christmas cards.

Evidence and limits

The source prints “LaFriere’s Store”; this record preserves that spelling and does not identify the business’s owners or equate it with a separately documented LaFreniere family member. The December notice calls the other business “Beachcomber Tavern,” while the November issue calls the venue “Beachcomber Bar”; this record preserves the two source names without claiming a legal business history.
