Program

Music on the Porch, held at the Mormon Print Shop, was “mobbed.” The Adult Nature Walk proved so popular it split into two. Dr. Jim Gillingham of CMU’s Biological Station presented “Real Live Reptiles.” Henry Hill, a Chicago attorney and Islander since the 1920s, gave a talk titled “Tales from the Other End of the Island,” drawn from his own book. John Hajicek, a member of the Strangite sect, spoke on “the fascinating tale of the ‘Strangite Mormons,’ still active 141 years after Strang’s murder.” Saturday night brought the Arranmore Pub Concert, played by the touring Chicago-based band Arranmore (Kevin O’Donnell, Brian Murphy, Kirk Rende, Bob “bull dog” Keck, and Gerry Aylward) at Holy Cross Parish Hall — the band’s own thank-you letter the following month confirms the venue.
