Summary

The November 1964 Beaver Beacon described a strong fall hunting season. A five-person group from Ludington camped on Garden Island for a week and was reported to have taken fifty partridge and some ducks. Hunters on Beaver Island estimated roughly one hundred turkeys near the south end, compared with a reported planting of 35 three years earlier. The issue also says 18 archers had taken 7 deer and that facilities were full for the first week of the coming deer season.
