Summary

The January 1968 Beaver Beacon argued that state ownership of Hog, High, and most of Garden Island helped protect undeveloped landscapes from commercialization. It described High Island’s prior logging, grazing, and cultivation and the Conservation Department’s trails and dock.

Evidence and limits

This is an editorial appeal and source-attributed landscape description, not a land-management plan, title survey, or proof of future preservation.
