Summary
On February 24, 1971, a group using eleven snowmobiles traveled from Beaver Island across the ice via Garden and Hog Islands to Cross Village and returned before nightfall. The party checked the route of the icebreaker Mackinaw before crossing and was met by additional islanders on the return.
