Summary

The January and February 1970 Beaver Beacon issues both carried the formal announcement for “THE 16th ANNUAL ST. PATRICK’S PARTY,” held March 7, 1970, at St. Kevin’s Church Hall, 10513 Torrence Avenue, Chicago, under Rev. Bernard Scheid’s pastorate — the same venue, pastor, and price used for the 1968 and 1969 editions. No issue held here reports the party’s outcome.

Sixteen years back from 1970 again places the founding party in 1955 (1970 − 15 = 1955), the fourth directly stated ordinal in the held run to corroborate that year.

Program

Donations of $2.50 per person and $1.50 per child (under 18) at St. Kevin’s Church Hall, repeating the format of the two preceding held editions. The February notice explicitly distinguishes the Chicago benefit (March 7) from the island’s own St. Patrick’s Day (March 17).

Evidence limits

This edition is documented only by its advance announcement, printed twice without a program (band, menu) or outcome report in the issues held here — no attendance figure, proceeds total, or list of attendees is available.

Open questions

  • Did a later 1970 issue report the outcome of this edition that is not captured in the issues held here?
