Summary
Around the Island is a composite route named in the October 2015 Beaver Island trails-map legend. It should remain a route entity separate from the component roads and trails until a current track or authoritative route description is located.
Map status
No map geometry is asserted. The 2015 printed map is the latest held route map;
the 2025–26 visitor guide is newer descriptive context but does not provide a
digitizable line. Pending update: obtain a current trail-GPS track or an
official trail map and replace geometry_status: unresolved.
Open questions
- What specific roads and trails make up the “Around the Island” composite route today, and does a current GPS track exist that could be digitized in place of the 2015 map?
- Does the route name predate the October 2015 trails map — for instance in the 2002 Trail Master Plan or an earlier island guide — or was it introduced with that map?
If you can answer any of these, or correct anything above, the archive wants to hear it — see Corrections.

Sources
- The left-hand legend names Around the Island as a composite route. The map is the latest held route-map source, not a current GPS track.
