Access and ownership
Fox Pointe Trail began as a subdivision access easement, not a public recreation trail. The one source held for its naming — a December 1998 Beaver Beacon report of the 11 November 1998 Peaine Township meeting — says the township named the road for the easement “serving parcels 4-10” of Fox Pointe. That establishes it as private access infrastructure for a specific group of platted parcels, not a route open to the general public; no source held here states otherwise, and none documents a motorized-use designation. There are no designated public ORV trails on Beaver Island in any case.
Evidence and limits
The name and the alignment are what mappers last entered, and OpenStreetMap is
volunteered work rather than a survey: it settles neither the right-of-way nor
who maintains the road. Where the name came from is a separate question. Plats,
road-commission minutes, and island memory answer that one. Put an older
spelling from any of them into alt_names or former_names, with the source
that attests it.

- The Fox Pointe plat itself is not held in the archive — when was it recorded, and does its legal description confirm the boundaries of parcels 4–10 that the November 1998 township report names?
- Was a formal easement or dedication document ever recorded for Fox Pointe Trail, and does the road remain private access today or has its status since changed?
