In September 2003, contaminated soil was removed from around Whiskey Point Light as part of the steps toward St. James Township’s acquisition of the property. The excavation revealed old bricks that may have belonged to the keeper’s house, along with other artifacts transferred to the Historical Society.

Evidence limits

The report records remediation and archaeological observations, not a completed title transfer, reconstruction, or full archaeological investigation.
