Summary

The University of Notre Dame Irish Stories project conducted a field investigation at the Dan and Catherine Boyle Farm Site (20CX204) on Beaver Island from July 15 through July 20, 2012.

Evidence and limits

The report describes 11 hand-excavated one-square-meter units totaling 11 m2, sampling midden deposits around an open former cellar. It records the project’s processing and temporary-custody arrangements and connects the work to the earlier Gallagher homestead seasons. The report does not establish land title, the complete identity or descent of the Boyle family, a public coordinate, a final artifact interpretation, or uninterrupted activity outside the stated dates.
