Summary

The University of Notre Dame Irish Stories project reported two archaeological field seasons at the publicly named Peter Doney Gallagher Homestead (20CX201) on Beaver Island: July 5–22, 2010 and July 6–21, 2011.

Evidence and limits

The held technical report establishes those reported field seasons and their project context. It does not establish a public coordinate, land ownership, complete artifact inventory, the identity or descent of every person associated with the homestead, or a final interpretation of the site. The recorded date span brackets two discrete seasons and is not a claim of uninterrupted fieldwork.

  1. The forum post linked a contemporary Donegal article about a Notre Dame archaeologist who had worked at the old Early place on Beaver Island traveling to Arranmore. The post is a pointer to outside reporting; the held technical report remains the controlling source for the field-season dates and site identity.

  2. The held chapter states that field investigations took place at the Peter Doney Gallagher Homestead (20CX201) from July 5–22, 2010 and July 6–21, 2011. The temporal span in this entry brackets two discrete field seasons; it does not assert continuous excavation between them.
