Summary

Daniel Emerald Gallagher (1918–2005) is identified by the Library of Congress catalog as a performer on an Alan Lomax recording made at Saint James on August 24, 1938. A 2006 Beaver Beacon obituary gives his complete name, June 14, 1918 Beaver Island birth, parents Elizabeth (Green) and Andrew Gallagher, and November 4, 2005 death at Cocoa Beach, Florida.1

Evidence and limits

The held catalog establishes a performer label on one bundled recording item. The later obituary’s uncommon given name, Beaver Island birth, parent names, and documented maritime career provide the identity bridge and life dates; the recording catalog still does not identify which portion of the bundled title he performed.
