Summary
After the June loon rescue, a July 6, 2015 forum post reported observations from several Beaver Island lakes. It described a loon on a nest at Greene’s Lake; pairs with two chicks at Fox and Barney’s Lakes; two pairs with three chicks at Font Lake; and a pair with one chick at Lake Geneserath. The observer summarized the sightings as eight chicks and one additional nest or egg.
The report also urged boaters to keep their distance, noting that disturbance could draw adult loons away from chicks and expose them to eagle predation.
Evidence limits
